This pre-owned, unique Sarpaneva Korona Moonshine watch in stainless steel is in mint condition and has perfect mechanical functionality. This rare Moonshine was created as a pièce unique ( Ref. No. 6) by the independent watchmaker, Stepan Sarpaneva, with a sandblasted Korona case and stunning, open case-back. The watch comes as a full set, with its original box and papers, and is guaranteed for authenticity.
The stainless steel, "Korona" case, a trademark of the watchmaker, measures 42 mm and is 10.2 mm thick, fitting very smoothly on the wrist. On top of this, comes the steel, open "skeleton" dial, featuring the iconic Sarpaneva face of the moon, made of oxidised silver. The serious-looking moon has a deep countenance, leaving it up to wearer's interpretation as to what it might represent, making it a statement piece on the wrist.
The bold design does not end here; time and the moon-phase are revealed through the skeletonised steel aperture below the moon. It tells the time via one of the rotating discs with Arabic numerals, that moves around the periphery of the dial. The time can read in the lower section, through the luminous pointed arrow at six o'clock, with bars for fifteen-minute, and stars for thirty-minute increments. The second rotating disc, with alternating luminous and black quadrants, show the phases of the moon, turning around in 29.5 days, and revealing the shape of the moon through the aperture. This Sarpaneva Korona Moonshine comes on a taupe alligator strap, and an extra strap with a hidden deployant clasp from Sarpaneva.
This Korona Moonshine is powered by the extensively modified Soprod A10 25-jewel automatic movement, beating at a rate of 28,800 A/h. Stepan Sarpaneva favours this movement, and modified it so that the mainplate includes phases of the moon. Mechanically, it is linked to what would be the date function, hence it can be manipulated via the crown. It also features a classic Sarpaneva, skeletonised, steel rotor with two white gold masses and yet another, single hand-engraved moon face. The movement has 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound and has a depth rating of 50 metres.
Viewings can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
